A gilet, also known as “what is a gilet,” is a sleeveless jacket that functions as a versatile layering piece. It provides insulation and freedom for your arms, making it a practical choice for various outdoor activities. This article will guide you through the design, uses, and selection of gilets, ensuring you understand their role in both fashion and function without overwhelming you with excess detail.
A gilet is a versatile, sleeveless garment that keeps the core warm without restricting movement, ideal for layering in various outdoor activities and weather conditions.
There are differences between a gilet and a body warmer; gilets are lighter and suitable for layering, while body warmers are bulkier, offering more warmth for lower-intensity activities.
Choosing the right gilet involves considering material and design features for specific activities, and proper care is essential to maintain its performance and longevity.
Certain fashion terms can sometimes be used in various ways by different cultures, and may also be used as shorthands for wider categories of clothing.
For example, in the United States, “pants” most often refers to trousers. In the United Kingdom, briefs, boxers or other underwear are referred to as “pants”, creating an amusing cultural clash.
But what about vests? Well, in the United Kingdom, a vest can be an undergarment worn over your torso to provide more warmth. In the United States, this is referred to as a “tank top.”
You may also hear people refer to gilet-like apparel as a “vest.” But are they the same thing? If not, what are the differences?
It’s important to note that, as TCA is a British brand, we have a “UK perspective” on this. “Gilet” is a French term, meaning "waistcoat." That’s not to denigrate other cultures who may hold a different understanding, but this advice should help if you’re shopping through UK outlets like ours:
In this post, we hope to clear that up once and for all. We’ll also go into the fitness benefits of ordering a gilet and wearing it atop your usual running apparel.
A gilet is a type of sleeveless jacket, enjoyed for both its versatility and comfort. It can be worn in all weather types because it neither overheats nor allows the cold to bite. They can also be tailored for those pursuing an active lifestyle, as this refined garment can be cultivated for many different purposes.
At TCA, we craft our gilet range with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring they provide optimal comfort and flexibility, empowering you to conquer your fitness goals.
You may think that a gilet is a large, puffy overcoat, but that’s only one variant of the jacket style. A gilet can be sleek, zip up, host a number of functional pockets, and provide just enough padding to keep you warm running in cold weather while also remaining light and breathable enough to stop you from overheating.
Beyond performance, our gilets showcase contemporary British style, offering the streetwear smart appeal that’s become so popular in London and our major cities. Available in a wide range of designs and colours with additional functions like rain and windproofing, each gilet is a testament to the fusion of cutting-edge fitness technology prioritised by TCA.
We tend to think of a gilet as a sleeker sleeveless jacket, most often seen in European cuts. Of course, there’s no standard definition of how a gilet can be cut and designed, but it’s mostly designed to keep you comfortable and also to help you with daily activities, sometimes even refined for fitness.
A vest is more straightforward, usually an American term for a sleeveless jacket with a practical focus, most often worn for warmth and popular for outdoor activities like hiking or even hunting and other survivalist efforts. A vest in some interpretations can also refer to a suit vest, which is worn in the traditional three-piece suit.
Both styles are similar to one another. If you go out to purchase a gilet but come home with a more traditional vest, you’ll still be happy with the purchase. However, if you’re looking for a more fitness-oriented gilet garment, it’s wiser to purchase from athletic brands like TCA to fulfill your workout needs.
A gilet’s snug fit is crucial to effectively trap air and insulate the chest, keeping the core body warm in cool temperatures without compromising on layering space. Think of it as a wearable hug, a personal cocoon that keeps you warm while allowing you to move freely!
Zippers on gilets offer you the ability to regulate body temperature by adjusting ventilation as activity levels or ambient temperatures change. So, whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll or conquering a challenging hike, a gilet can accommodate your needs, serving as a versatile piece in layering systems, able to act as breathable, insulating mid-layers or as protective outer layers against the elements.
For a functional fit, a gilet should mirror the cut of a waistcoat, close-fitting yet allowing for comfortable movement and additional layers.
The design of armholes in a gilet is crucial to ensure they do not restrict movement and allow a full range of motion. This means you can perform any activity without feeling constrained, making it perfect for those who love to stay active outdoors.
The fit around a gilet’s shoulders should be snug without overlapping or overhanging to prevent any discomfort or restriction of movement. The shoulder fit of a gilet should align properly with the body, mirroring the hem or stitch line where a traditional sleeve joins the top to avoid overhanging the shoulders. This design aspect ensures comfort while preserving the overall aesthetic of your outdoor attire.
When it comes to the length of a gilet, the rule of thumb is this: it should not exceed the length of the top it’s paired with. It should be similar to a waistcoat, ending at the waist for men. This ensures a neat appearance and warmth retention, especially when layered.
But don’t worry, there’s still room for personal style! Gilets come in a range of lengths, from waist to knee-length options, accommodating personal style preferences and comfort needs. So, whether you prefer a short, sporty look or a long, elegant style, there’s a gilet for you.
So, why are gilets so popular as activewear for running and other workouts in the first place? Surely, the first piece of fitness apparel that comes to mind isn’t a jacket?
Well, think again. A gilet is not only comfortable, but it’s the perfect thinner layer to wear on top of a running shirt. This helps you stay warm, provides you with the utility of many zippable pockets, and looks stylish.
This means you can easily throw one on over your workout gear, providing an extra layer of insulation when it's chilly without the bulk of a full jacket. However, they also allow heat and moisture to escape, if a little more slowly, which means they remain breathable too.
In other words, if you’re running in colder temperatures, a gilet won’t impede your movement at all but will help you stay warm. This means your body expends less energy on temperature regulation, and more on your sporting performance.
Layering is a fundamental principle of outdoor clothing, and gilets fit right into this concept. They serve as a versatile layer that can be worn:
as an outer layer on cool days
as a mid-layer beneath a jacket for additional insulation when temperatures drop further
in very cold conditions, a gilet can be efficiently layered between a base layer and a down jacket as part of a hiking layering system for extra warmth.
The hem of a gilet should fit snugly to effectively trap air and keep the torso warm, while ensuring it is not so tight as to hamper breathability and moisture wicking, essential for active outdoor activities. The sleeveless design of gilets is integral for maintaining comfort and freedom of movement, making it a suitable layer for all seasons and various activities.
One of the best things about gilets is their seasonal adaptability. They can be added or removed with ease, making them particularly suitable for seasons like spring and autumn with unpredictable weather. In colder climates, insulated gilets either down or synthetic, serve efficiently as an outer layer.
During the colder times of the year such as autumn and winter, gilets can be stylishly paired with jumpers or checked shirts for men or with striped sweatshirts or knitted jumpers for women. Gilets are also a practical addition for children’s outdoor apparel, pairing nicely with jeans and a t-shirt or jumper for that extra layer of warmth during cooler weather walks.
In the realm of outdoor clothing, gilets have proven themselves as a versatile and essential piece. Their ability to provide a waterproof layer, warmth, comfort, and freedom of movement make them an ideal choice for various outdoor activities and pursuits. From their design to the materials used, gilets have been crafted to cater to your specific needs, making them a valuable addition to your outdoor wardrobe. So, whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or just love a cozy walk in the park, it’s time to embrace the gilet!

A gilet and a vest are essentially the same thing, but a gilet is more commonly used in European fashion while a vest is the preferred term in the US.
The main point of a gilet is to provide an added layer to keep you warm by trapping air on your chest, so it should fit snugly to avoid letting a draft in at the hem.
Yes, a gilet and a bodywarmer are the same piece of clothing. The names are interchangeable, and they both refer to sleeveless jackets designed to keep the body insulated.
Wear a slimline gilet under other layers with a snug fit and high arm holes, and pair it with a windbreaker or waterproof jacket for winter. Choose subtle color tones for a stylish look.
]]>If you’ve ever worn running or even swim shorts before and felt confused about their inner liner, you may have wondered about their purpose.
Years can pass without ever really knowing why you have to thread your legs through two sets of openings when wearing them, or why it feels like you have an extra pair of netted underwear on each time.
But these liners serve a very real purpose. Such liners can be netted, or a “two in one” design where the inner fabric is a little looser than the outer fabric, but can be worn comfortably nonetheless.
Never fear, because in this guide we’ll answer this question for you once and for all. Moreover, we’ll also discuss how TCA approaches this vital question when designing their best activewear products.
There are many benefits to wearing lined running shorts from TCA. Here are a few:
Moisture Management:
Liners in jogging shorts, especially those from TCA, excel in moisture management. The liner wicks away sweat from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable during your run. This is essential for preventing chafing and irritation. In other words, liners offering moisture management will help you run more comfortably for longer.
After all, the more you have to think about your shorts during a run, the less suited they are to the task. With reliable moisture management, you can more readily continue and achieve your running goals.
Chafe Prevention:
Chafing is uncomfortable, but it’s not only moisture that causes it. By providing a smooth layer between your skin and the fabric of the jogging shorts for men, liners reduce friction, minimizing the risk of discomfort and skin irritation, particularly during those longer runs.
This anti-chafing keeps you more comfortable, sure, but it also helps prevent sores, rashes, and other harmful skin reactions from chafing that may prevent you from running as you hoped. Chafes may seem like a minor annoyance but they can become a pronounced issue if left unattended to over time.
At TCA, we make sure you never have to worry about this kind of problem. Moreover, our fits are designed for a range of body types and sizes, so you can always find the most comfortable fit no matter who you are or how unique your correct running form may be. Our mens running shorts with phone pocket feature zip pockets, drawstrings for customized fit, and lightweight and breathable materials, make these one of the best running shorts for men!
Breathability & Airflow
It's important to have proper airflow and breathability in your clothing when doing any type of exercise. Without that, it’s easy to overheat, and for perspiration to no longer evaporate.
Moreover, non-breathable fabrics are uncomfortable to wear in the heat of exercise and can limit your performance. It’s why many people shudder at the thought of working out in their work suit, or while wearing jeans.
But how does a running shorts liner effectively allow for appropriate airflow? Mesh panels or strategically placed ventilation zones enhance that airflow, preventing the buildup of heat and moisture in important areas.
As you can imagine, shorts cover your hips, which is where the power is generated when running or performing any push and pull movements.
This area requires breathable fabric given that’s where most of your movement is generated from. That’s why all of TCA shorts are designed with airflow and breathability as a priority.
Added Support & Enchanced Comfort
The built-in liner provides additional support to minimize bounce and jostling during your run. This is especially crucial for both men and women, offering a comfortable and secure fit that enhances the overall running experience.
The liner's snug fit and seamless construction contribute to an overall comfortable feel. It adds a layer of protection without restricting your movements, allowing you to focus on your run rather than adjusting your shorts constantly.
So, certain running shorts have liners. Does that mean non-lined shorts aren’t worth wearing?
Not at all!
Non-lined shorts can be just as comfortable as lined shorts, but may not have the same kind of chafe protection or breathability as others.
That said, non-lined shorts can allow for the wearing of compression tights underneath, they enjoy a lighter feel which is good for a more minimal running experience, and if you just prefer a lack of netting, you’re well-suited with this variant.
Or, perhaps you intend to wear running shorts over longer compression leggings, especially if you hope to layer up in winter. There are many reasons as to why both are valid for any one person, and so don’t feel as though you’re “running incorrectly” if you prefer to layer your athletic wear in a unique fashion.
Consider TCA running shorts today!
At TCA, we’re proud to offer a range of original designs for both lined and non-lined running shorts. We also stock shorts in a range of colours and sizes to make sure they’re suitable for any taste and body type.

Perhaps it would be motivational to start this article with a celebration of how women are revolutionising the fitness space, but in reality, women have been a core component of athleticism, fitness culture, and scientific understanding for an untold number of years. Without them, half of our understanding of the benefits of exercise and how to partake in it would dissolve.
For this reason, TCA celebrates and hopes to empower women from all walks of life. By celebrating the diversity of women’s bodies and catering to them without hesitation, we have the privilege of working alongside some of the most impressive customers and clients we could hope to connect with.
In this post, we’ll discuss the best running clothes for women, including shorts, shirts, and running socks, all designed and sold by TCA. We aim to serve as your go-to brand for high-performance, stylish, and comfortable running apparel.
We hope you can become part of our journey.
TCA loudly repeats our continual dedication to diversity and inclusivity, catering to a wide variety of body types and sizes. Please look at our user-friendly sizing guide to see just how many variants we offer.
By celebrating the unique qualities of every woman, our designers have the chance to curate activewear, compression apparel, and well-fitting, reliable sports garments for all of our customers.
If you’ve had trouble finding fitting activewear in the past, why not give TCA’s running collection a try? Our range is designed by women, for women, to ensure satisfaction every time.
Running requires good form, but it’s hard to gauge your proper stride when your shorts hardly assist you in that task. To be comfortable while running, ladies running shorts need to be properly sized, conform to your body, and feel comfortable and supportive to wear. They must also be breathable, so you can easily stride with full mobility and never feel uncomfortable.
Our versatile shorts are designed to be breathable and have netting or compression designed to ensure moisture is correctly dealt with, preventing chafing.
Moreover, our shorts can easily be worn under or over other fitness garments depending on your preference, allowing you to alternate your running outfit depending on the weather that day.
TCA’s breathable fabrics, composed of moisture-wicking materials such as polyester as well as other specialised blends, efficiently pull moisture away from the skin to the fabric's surface, allowing it to evaporate. This helps your skin breathe more easily.
This process helps regulate body temperature too, preventing overheating and discomfort. Additionally, proper breathability ensures efficient air circulation, reducing the risk of irritation or rashes.
Our women's running clothes and long sleeve running tops, crafted from breathable fabrics, enhance the overall running experience by promoting a cooler, drier, and more comfortable environment.
It doesn’t matter if you run long sprints or are training for your next half-marathon; having the best running shorts that help your skin breathe with every stride is crucial.
Sure, running apparel can be effective and offer every new innovative design possible, but if they don’t match your taste, will you really give them pride of place in the “gym” section of your wardrobe?
Fortunately, TCA is committed to designing clean-looking, well-fitting, comfortable, and stylish clothing. Great-fitting clothing looks good all by itself, but our designs have been designed with one vision in mind: clean practicality embraces great form, and great form looks fantastic.
Our bright tones are rich without clashing colour palettes, and we make sure to avoid garish logos that make it hard to match with other items of clothing. After all, you may not only wish to wear your running gear while working out but also around the house, after work before heading to the gym, and when enjoying a range of exercise activities.
With TCA running clothes, you’re sure to find practical and attractive apparel designs that help you unlock that inner confidence you deserve to express.
Running socks may not seem like the most important element of your gym wardrobe, but when it comes to running well, a great pair is essential.
Not only do they provide a comfortable liner between your foot and your running shoe, but they also hygienically deal with perspiration, which is essential when you’re putting in the miles on the track or treadmill.
A great pair of running socks can provide stability for your feet and also prevent the risk of blisters. This is important if you hope to keep up a routine running schedule without being impacted.
Having a dozen pairs of socks you can easily switch out throughout the week will mean you can always run hygienically, as they serve as the foremost element of foot care.
At TCA, our goal is to provide every one of our cherished customers with a fantastic experience, inspiring them to start their fitness journey with confidence.
But don’t take our word for it; consider some of our testimonials:
“Really easy, good description, very reasonably priced. Quick delivery and again, great price! I haven’t used TCA before, but after reading the positive reviews, I’m really glad I did.” - Nina
“Excellent service received from TCA again. I received my order very quickly. I had to exchange my items for a smaller size. Daniel at TCA was extremely helpful and organised for my exchange items to be shipped as soon as they received my package. Excellent service and excellent products.” - AP

]]>There are many forms of activewear to use and enjoy daily, but the most popular among them is compression apparel.
Put simply compression garments are tight-fitting but still offer a capable stretch. You may imagine materials like spandex or elastane which help to exert pressure on the body. Compression wear, also known as "base layers", has become commonplace within the fitness industry, but it also has therapeutic and even medical uses as well.
If beginner trainees and elite athletes all utilise compression clothing, you can see just how many benefits they provide. But what are the benefits of compression clothing developed by TCA, and why should you prioritise this style of activewear for your next fitness investment?
In this article, we’ll go over the most essential virtues of this style:
Compression shirts, sleeves, and leggings can help to support you during a range of fitness movements. All fitness training requires mobility to complete a full range of motion, no matter the exercise. This means that fitness apparel which actively supports and assists you in those movements, without restricting you, can be beneficial.
We can see this at high levels of the competitive space, where seasoned powerlifters will often wear “squat suits” to help unlock the power of elastic energy, helping them bound out of a deep squat with the power and strength needed to lift the barbell.
But this is just one form of compression utility. You can also benefit from compression shorts when cycling, jogging, or even performing yoga movements.
This is because TCA compression wear helps to reduce your muscles vibrating or oscillating, helping to support your movements while also reducing fatigue. This can also prevent muscle soreness after a hard workout, no matter what fitness level you’re at.
Optimal circulation is essential for performance because without the right amount of oxygen feeding your muscles, it’s easy to feel tired, sore, or even unable to produce the performance you were expecting.
Of course, poor circulation must always be treated by your healthcare provider or doctor. But if you have good circulation, you can promote its optional function further by wearing compression apparel.
By applying pressure to the body’s surface, you help to remove metabolic waste products and enhance oxygen delivery, which allows you to recover faster and train for longer. There’s a reason most elite-level athletes use this form of activewear, but you can still find a benefit no matter how in shape you are.
Ultimately, it’s important to remember that exercise is there to break our muscles and endurance down, that’s why we expend such effort. It’s in the recovery where we see the strength and stamina gains, as we’ve trained our bodies to adapt to more pronounced stress than we might otherwise experience.
For that reason, the common refrain of “muscles being built in the kitchen” tends to be truer than the common wisdom of them only appearing in the gym. Compression wear can be a great asset here. By reducing swelling, especially in the legs (compression shorts and 2 in 1 running shorts), while also helping with injury prevention against shin splints/muscle strains and soreness, and also improving the circulation of your body, you can rest more easily and recover quickly.
As mentioned above, the limitation of muscle vibration also allows you to store elastic energy more readily, which helps you work out with the correct form. When you isolate your training to where you hope to grow by exercising perfect form, you can return to your next session more rested, energetic and focused than ever.
Working out is rarely the most glamorous thing you can do, even if it feels great and thoroughly promotes health and wellbeing. That’s fine, no one goes to the gym for a fashion shoot. But if you ever did, compression wear would be your main choice.
Temperature regulation is a big part of that. By helping you remove moisture using moisture-wicking technology, you can regulate your temperature even during your hardest workouts.
Of course, this shouldn’t deter you from working out in appropriate weather conditions or staying hydrated no matter what training plan you’re working on - but compression activewear can help you avoid feeling like an overly sweaty and blubbering mess during your hardest efforts.
For that reason, compression wear is a firm favourite for those who exercise outside, such as cyclists or runners who often find themselves working out in all temperature conditions. Moreover, it’s not just sweat and warmth that can feel more comfortable in compression gear, but it helps to retain your body heat during colder periods, too.
For this reason, you can aid your body as you work out, expending less energy on keeping your body at the right temperature and more energy on working out and giving your best performance.
Some report that compression clothing has actively made them enjoy training in the winter again, and it’s hard to think of a more worthwhile benefit than that.
Activewear can look great, and help you feel confident while exercising.
At TCA, we design our compression wear to fit a wide variety of body types and dedicate ourselves to diversity and inclusivity in all designs we sell. For this reason, activewear can also be enjoyed casually, no matter if you’re wearing these garments under your work apparel to hit the gym after your shift, or to relax on a warm summer’s day.
Our fusion of style and functionality ensures that well-fitting compression flatters your figure and helps you feel highly comfortable, and many customers report comfort and relaxation thanks to the slight compression of our clothes.
Our sleek designs are also tasteful, clearly of our brand but not over-decorated with clashing colour schemes and garish logos. For this reason, activewear can be worn no matter if you’re competing in a vital competition, or simply heading to the gym for a composed Sunday workout.

How Do I Determine the Right Size for Running Shorts?
Choosing the correct size for running shorts involves measuring your waist and hips accurately. Refer to the brand's sizing chart for specific guidance, considering that sizes may vary between brands. It's crucial to prioritize comfort and ensure the shorts allow for ease of movement during your runs.
What Should I Do if I Fall Between Sizes for Running Shorts?
If you find yourself between sizes, experts recommend opting for the larger size. Running in shorts that are too tight may cause discomfort and chafing. Additionally, consider the shorts' design, as some styles may offer an adjustable waistband or drawstring for a customized fit, such as TCA's best-selling running shorts.
How Can I Avoid Common Sizing Mistakes When Purchasing Running Clothes Online?
To prevent sizing errors when buying running clothes online, take accurate measurements of your waist, hips, and other relevant areas. Thoroughly review the brand's sizing guidelines and consider checking customer reviews for insights into fit and sizing. If uncertain, reach out to customer support for guidance to ensure you make informed choices when selecting the right size for your running clothes.

Cattivo esempio👎: voglio perdere peso
Obiettivi vaghi ottengono risultati vaghi.
Alzati e vai a farlo.

L'abbigliamento compressivo era diventato molto popolare negli Stati Uniti e i migliori atleti stavano iniziando a indossarlo durante le competizioni.
